Aelita Dolukhanyan

Born in Yerevan on February 14, 1942. Professor Aelita Dolukhanyan is a Doctor of Sciences in Philology, and is a Corresponding Member of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences. She is the first woman who was elected as a Corresponding Member of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences in the sphere of humanities. Prof. Dolukhanyan is the Chair of the Department of Ancient and Medieval Armenian Literature and its Teaching Methodology at Khachatur Abovian State Pedagogical University in Yerevan. Prof. Dolukhanyan has honorary designation of Outstanding Contributor to Culture and Arts of the Republic of Armenia. She has authored 31 books and nearly 500 scholarly research articles. Prof. Dolukhanyan’s works have been published in Armenian, Russian, English, French, and Polish languages. She has also translated numerous research and literary pieces into Armenian from Russian, English, and French. Scientific interests: Ancient and Medieval Armenian Literature, folklore, contemporary Armenian literature, Armenology, literary connections. She has repeatedly presented reports at international conferences (USA, France, Georgia, Armenia). She has founded the “European Armenologists” literary series of books. She is a member of Special Council at M. Abeghian Institute of Literature of the NAS RA, member of Board of Sciences at Kh. Abovian Armenian State Pedagogical University, Jury Member of the Armenian State Prize, member of Editorial Board of the NAS RA Historical-Philological Journal. HONORS Movses Khorenatsi Medal (2003), Khachatur Abovian Medal (2007), Armenian Society of Writers Medal for Literary Achievements (2007), F. Nansen Gold Medal (2007), Nikole Aghbalian Prize (2008), etc. OTHER INFORMATION In 1964, she was enrolled as a full-time graduate student at Kh. Abovian Institute, and in 1969 she became the Chair of the Department of Post-Graduate Studies at the same Institute.
