Famous commander, General Andranik (Andranik Ozanyan, 1865–1927), throughout all his activity, stayed in touch with the Greek people and cooperated with Greece.
During the First Balkan War of 1912–1913 Andranik with the Armenian volunteer company of the Bulgarian Army participated in the liberation and defence of Greek settlements from Ottoman troops in Macedonia and Thrace and provided necessary support to the local Greek population.
