    Paruyr Sevak (1924–1971) lived and created during the Soviet years, developed his own theory of art, and took a worthy place in Armenian literature. His name was also heard in the All-Union poetry of that time, the paths of which were determined by Andrei Voznesensky, Robert Rozhdestvensky, Yevgeny Yevtushenko, Joseph Brodsky, Vladimir Vysotsky, Eduardas Mieželaitis, Ivan Drach, and others.     The prominent novelist Aksel Bakunts (1899–1937) was criticized as a “nationalist” at party meetings and in the literary press as early as 1933. At the height of his creative powers, in addition to being accused of nationalism, terrorism was also attributed to him. The writer was arrested on August 9, 1936. Aksel Bakunts was imprisoned for 11 months. During that time, he was subjected to a severe moral and physical torture. On July 8, 1936, his sentence to the highest punishment, execution by shooting, was carried out in Yerevan.

    On November 21, 1924, Charents left Batumi for an international journey on the ship “Bukovina”. Abroad, Charents was perceived as a symbol of the USSR, as a red poet. His first stop was Trabzon, where he wrote the poem "Lenin and Alin" based on the impressions he got there. Then follows Constantinople where Charents wrote the poem “Stambol” from December 19 to 22 and in the same month, he published it in a separate booklet. On January 9, 1925, he left Istanbul for Athens. In early February of 1925, the poet left Greece and in a few days, he was already in Rome. On the way, he visited the island of Capri in the Bay of Naples.

    The novel “The White Horseman” without Chapters 3 and 4 was published in “Hayrenik” magazine of Boston (1931, №. 7, 1933, №. 12) and then in a separate book in Los Angeles (vols. 1–2, 1952), in one volume in Yerevan (2016). The time included in the novel is the 1890s. This is a novel with a historical-political program, but it is not a historical novel. There are historical hidden figures among the heroes: Cherchi Kiros – Hrayr Dzhoghk (Armenak Ghazaryan (1864–1904), Malkhas – Gevorg Chaush (Gevorg Ghazaryan) (1870–1907)), Nairyan – the conventional image of an ideological leader. The novel has a cer¬tain ideological orientation: shortly after the Genocide, the loss of the homeland, it tries to instill in the people the spirit of victory, even the dream of victory.

    This year marks the 170th anniversary of the birth of the classic of Armenian literature Petros Duryan. He lived only 20 years, turning his death into a poem, passing away with incurable tuberculosis. Still a schoolboy Duryan became known as a poet and playwrighter. He wrote his first poem at the age of 13 and his first drama at the age of 15.

    Arshak Chobanyan (1872–1954) – a writer, literary scholar, critic and a pub¬lisher – was a unique figure in the Armenian literary life. It is worth noting his respect for Charents (1897–1937) and his art. In his numerous reviews and articles published in the journal “Anahit” and in the weekly “Apaga”, Chobanyan highly appreciated Charents as a poet of national and pan-European value emphasizing his poetic innovation, which was reflected in creating innovative characters and forms.
